No Manners

Public Transport comprises of all transport systems, which the passengers do not travel in their own vehicles. So when traveling on public transport…please be aware that there are many people traveling as well.

Every morning when taking the LRT to the nearest bus stop…I have to push my way in order to get out of the train…why…because the boarding commuters will crowd at the door waiting for it to open…but they are forgetting to let the alighting commuters get out of the train first. Really…what’s the rush…the train will not go before we alight…the train will also not go before they board. Why are they so anxious…there will not be any seats available cause all are taken.

This evening…I was at Yishun MRT…waiting to board the train to meet my mate in Toa Payoh. Its peak hour and many people will alight the train at Yishun station…this young chap…in bermudas and tees…wanting to board the train…he just stood in the middle of the door while passenger alight. He was blocking and didn’t he realize that? Could he be so deep in thoughts that he didn’t know what’s going on?

What are we becoming? Must there be courtesy campaign to remind us of courtesy? Could we be more mindful? Where is the basic manner?

The Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay

I was at the Esplanade last night…dining and chilling on a Saturday night with good companion. I’ve been to the Esplanade several times…but last night it was different…last night I appreciate. I appreciate the magnificent building…the beauty overlooking the marina bay waterfront from the rooftop terrace…the lights that glitter in the still of the night…concert at the outdoor space…RJ Rosales was singing Frank Sintatra’s Fly Me to The Moon…the short tour of the library in the Esplanade. Last night was differently memorable.

Life As It Is

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it
Life is a beauty, admire it
Life is a bliss, taste it
Life is a dream, realize it
Life is a challenge, meet it
Life is a duty, complete it
Life is a game, play it
Life is costly, care for it
Life is wealth, keep it
Life is hope, enjoy it
Life is a mystery, know it
Life is a promise, fullfil it
Life is sorrow, overcome it
Life is a song, sing it
Life is a struggle, accept it
Life is a tragedy, confront it
Life is an adventure, dare it
Life is luck, make it
Life is too precious, do not destroy it
Life is life, fight for it

So They Say

You’ll never get want you want…so they say. It happens to me countless times. The more I wanted that something…the more I will not get…I will always fumble at the last hurdle or screw up the whole damn thing. And when I didn’t really want that something anymore…2 or even 3 of that thing will come crawling to me…ironic isn’t it. I kept asking myself…why is this so? Is it karma or its just my imagination. Its another unanswered question added into my long list of unanswered questions.

I think I’ve heard someone sang…you just can’t get what you want…you only get what you need. I’m an easily contented person…if you give me what I need…it’ll be good enough…but sometimes I don’t even get the things that I truly need…explaination anyone?

They say that everything happens for a reason…could it be related? They also say that things just happen…so it might not be related afterall…hmm…its getting confusing already.

The Ideal Sunday

Where and what would I want to do on Sunday? It would be ideal to start off Sunday at a deli sipping coffee…preferably latte…having my bacon ham & cheese sandwich…reading the Sunday Times. It would be nice if the deli is situated in a garden or near the beach…be as close as possible to nature. That would have been the perfect Sunday morning.

Late morning…time to do some sports. Blading…followed by kayaking…after the aggressive wind gusting sport…cool down on a kayak in the placid seawater. Not cool enough…I can take a dip in the blue water. That will definitely cool me down…definitely. Tired after sports…late afternoon nap will surely fresh me up.

Sad to say that it wasn’t the ideal Sunday that I had hope for cause I haven’t done any of the above…but I’m sure I’ll be taking the afternoon nap after this…not the 100% ideal Sunday…but a 15% would do just fine.

DJ For A Day

Been listening to Iron & Wine for almost the whole day…brilliant songs. I’ve discovered Iron & Wine only couple of days ago…through Pandora Internet Radio. Who would have thought that Iron & Wine is actually a one man show…singer-songwriter Samuel Beam…thought it was the name of a band.

For the album…“The Creek Drank Cradle”…Beam wrote, performed, recorded, and produced every track on the album by himself at a studio in his home…I’m really impressed. Soothing slide guitar…excellent strumming on the acoustic…laid back voice of his…harmonous backup…most important of all…the melodic tunes and great lyrics. I would say his music is characterized as Indie Folk. Anyway it doesn’t really matter how people group his music…as long as the songs are great.

Thanks to Pandora…I’ve discovered yet another jem. If only the local DJs play songs like this on the radio…if only they can serve the niche music lover with songs other than the ones they so love to call great tunes…if only the local DJs would stop talking for 5 mins a day and play a gem…just one everyday…if only the local radio stations could cut down on the commercials and play a few more tracks that appeal to people like me…if only I could be a DJ for a day…how lovely that day would have been.

Tales Of Two City

Everyone is taking break during the holiday period. I’ve got a friend who have just came back from Sydney…2 friends who are still there and will be back in a couple of days. A friend who has recently went to Thailand Bangkok and a couple who are still there shopping crazy.

Both these destinations…I have the privilege of visiting…are great for holidaying in their own ways. Australia Sydney…what else is there to say…many people have gone and come back saying they totally enjoyed the cosmopolitan city. A mix of bustling city life with a touch of down under tranquil. Then again some might beg to differ.

Thailand is a land of Thousand Smiles while Bangkok…I should say…is a shopping paradise with smiles. Maybe it’s the money the tourists spent that makes the people smile. Apart from shop till you drop in Bangkok…there is also the sweet and sour…hot or spicy Thai food and marvelously structured temples.

These 2 cities you can visit again and again and still will not get sick of it…of course this is only in my opinion.

Purpose

My ex-colleague Mike is working in China. Couple of years back…while touring with his wife in Malaysia…they met with a car accident…lost his uncle and his wife to be Lin. Sad story isn’t it. Had a chat with him this afternoon…apparently he still hasn’t recover from the tragedy…who would? He asked me…what’s your purpose in life? He said he find no purpose in life…I can see where his coming from but there’s nothing I can do to help him.

Sets me thinking really…what’s our purpose in life? How many have the answer? Are we just going through the motion? Me…I have some very vague answers…but the answers kept changing over the years. When will one truly find the real meaning in life? When will I find my purpose in this life?
